The SAF and Home Team are busy putting in place security arrangements for the meeting between US President Donald Trump and DPRK leader Kim Jong Un on Tuesday. MCI has also set up an International Media Centre at the F1 Pit Building, for the journalists covering the summit. I visited them this morning to check things out and thank them for their hard work.
Singapore has hosted major events before. But this highly anticipated meeting has put our little red dot under an intense global spotlight.
From the time we were asked by both sides to host this event, many Government agencies and private sector partners have worked closely with the Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs to make this happen. Thousands of public officers and personnel, including NSF and NSmen, have been mobilised. They are planning and working on the logistics, security, and media management for the summit, often working round the clock to meet deadlines.
For Singapore to have been chosen as the venue for this meeting testifies to our reputation for neutrality, efficiency, and security. I am confident you will help us to be good hosts to all our visitors.
May this summit lead eventually to a peaceful resolution in the Korean Peninsula. – LHL
